Een buurtkunstproject in opdracht van Woningbouwcorporatie Ieder 1 2004
Het Hoornwerk is een kleine, hechte buurt in Deventer. Ze wordt fasegewijs afgebroken voor de bouw van nieuwe kantoren en appartementen. De vraag van de bewonerscommissie was om een muurschildering te maken op een vandalisme gevoelig, leegstaand pand. Ik ontwikkelde een breder concept, die meer aansluit bij wat er in de wijk leeft. Als kern van het werk verzamelde ik verhalen van 24 bewoners over hun meest dierbare plek in de buurt. De verhalen zijn met foto's van de vertellers en de buurt gebundeld in de publicatie "Dag Hoornwerk". Delen uit de publicatie zijn op het felrood geschilderde pand bevestigd. De foto's zijn gemaakt door Rob Philip. In de drie jaar dat het werk bleef staan is er geen vernieling aangericht.

A neighbourhood art project
Hoornwerk is a small, strong community in Deventer. It is on the eve to be demolished, in favour of the construction of new offices and apartments. The demand of the residents' committee is to create a mural on an empty building. I develop a broader concept, which responds more to the situation of the people. As the core of the work I gather stories from 24 residents about their most cherished places. The stories with pictures of the storytellers and the neighbourhood are published in the book” Dag Hoornwerk” ". Parts of the publication are attached on the brightly red painted building. Rob Philip takes the photos. During the three years that the work existed, it provoked no vandalism.
